Tusciaelecta

Produced
Mario Airò

For Tusciaelecta 2008, Mario Airò has created a permanent installation for the pedestrian bridge linking Piazza Ferrante Mori and Piazzetta delle Cantine in Greve in Chianti.

The installation is ‘activated’ by the presence of passersby: a complex system of sensors and led lights indicates the passage of pedestrians, causing a colour change directly related to their movements.

Through the skillful use of artificial lighting and technology, the artist has created a work that explicates the meanings of the passage and, through perceptual stimulation, makes the spectator-player aware of his many possible implications, making this bridge (originally rather anonymous) an unprecedented object of observation and  support for those who use it.

The project by Mario Airò is curated by Arabella Natalini.
