On Saturday, January 19, 2013, the Marino Marini Museum will inaugurate THE PLAYER. Viaggio nelle passioni contemporanee. (THE PLAYER. Journey into contemporary passions. Works from the collection of Sandra and Giancarlo Bonollo), curated by Alberto Salvadori.
The Player is an annual survey project focusing on precious Italian private collections of art, little known to the general public. For each date, a refined art exhibition will be set up in the halls of the Museum, dedicated to the passion and the research that the collector has expressed in the realization of his collection.
For four months each year, a veritable new wing of the museum will be realized, affording a connection with the current and the past history of the city of Florence, universally recognized as the birthplace of art collecting and the place where the emblematic figure of the modern collector of art was born.
The protagonists of this first exhibition will be the works of artists such as Pavel Althamer, Darren Almond, Stefano Arienti, Tacita Dean, Jeremy Deller, Rineke Dijkstra, Keith Edmier & Farrah Fawcett, Olafur Eliasson, Urs Fischer, Giuseppe Gabellone, Mona Hatoum, Sarah Lucas, Marepe, Gabriel Orozco, Damián Ortega, Simon Starling and Piotr Uklanski, all from the collection created by Sandra and Giancarlo Bonollo, who for many years have followed, with passion, skill and quiet dedication, the evolution and the careers of both Italian and international artists.
