Lo schermo dell’arte

Film festival 2012

Evento inserito nella rassegna (eng) 50 Days of Cinema 2012

LO SCHERMO DELL’ARTE FILM FESTIVAL, directed by Silvia Lucchesi, presents its 5th Edition, which will be held in Florence from November 21 to 25, 2012. Lo Schermo dell’Arte is a “project in motion”, unique in Italy and one of the few world-wide, which, with multiple initiatives during the course of the year, narrates and analyzes the complex relations between contemporary art and cinema through film, video, installations, book launches, encounters and workshops.  In previous editions, the festival has hosted such international artists as Libia Castro, Phil Collins, Omer Fast, Alfredo Jaar, Mark Lewis, Shirin Neshat and Sarah Morris. LO SCHERMO DELL’ARTE FILM FESTIVAL 2012 is enriched by a new section, Focus on, dedicated to the work of British video artist and director Isaac Julien, nominated for the Turner Prize 2001 and winner of the Semaine de la Critique prize at the Cannes Festival 1991 for his film Young Soul Rebels. Another first for the 2012 edition of the Festival is VISIO – European Workshop on Artists’ Cinema, a project intended to encourage the development of a network of artists and professionals who work with moving images

The program of the 5th Edition will also include examinations of current art practices in the section Festival Talks with lectures, encounters with artists, curators and authors.
Lo Schermo dell’Arte is included in the review “50 giorni di cinema internazionale a Firenze” organized by Fondazione Sistema Toscana.

Lo Schermo dell’Arte is supported by Regione Toscana within the program “Toscanaincontemporanea 2012” and by Ente Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze/OAC Osservatorio per le Arti Contemporanee, Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands/Olandiamo in Toscana, Deutsches Institut Florenz, Institut Français Florence.
