Film Festival 2014
The 7th edition of Lo schermo dell’arte Film Festival to be held in Florence from November 12th to 16th 2014 at the Odeon Firenze CineHall will involve various locations throughout the city: Villa Romana, Istitut Français, Le Murate. Progetti Arte Contemporanea.
Lo schermo dell’arte Film Festival is an international cinema festival dedicated to exploring and promoting relations between contemporary art and cinema through the presentation of documentaries on contemporary art and artist’s films. The project was started in Florence in 2008 and through its original and coherent system of activities, it has won its own role in the Italian contemporary art scene, as well as internationally, and collaborates with institutions, art centres, schools of art and universities in Italy and abroad.
This year, a varied program of art films and premieres will be presented; there will be also meetings and workshops involving International guests as artists, filmmakers, curators and directors of international institutions. According to a formula already successfully tested, the widespread festival, in addition to the screenings at the Odeon Cinema, will involve meetings and screenings with the main local cultural institutions, including the Institut Français Florence, Villa Romana and Le Murate. In the program is Focus on Hito Steyerl, artist and filmmaker, among the most acclaimed in the world of visual arts; a selection of works from the Pinault Collection of Yael Bartana, Cinthia Marcelle, Shirin Neshat; artist’s films by Liam Gillick, Shahryar Nashat, Marine Hugonnier, Philipp Warnell, Amie Siegel; also, the premieres of Cutie and the Boxer, a documentary nominated for an Oscar, and films about artists Ai Weiwei, Ylya and Emilia Kabakov, Michael Heizer, Gordon Matta Clark, Ulay, Guido van der Werve, Meret Oppenheim.
